Two large podium areas over an underground carpark including a world first with a QwickBuild floating lawn bowls and petanque court.
The challenges:
Ryman’s in-house architects required a solution with low-height capabilities. The project involved a large post-tension slab over an underground carpark which added complexity.
The solution:
The versatility of the QwickBuild system gave the architects more options than they had anticipated as they could easily integrate not just the tiles and turf areas but also the lawn bowls and petanque court.
The majority of this 1600m² project was constructed from loose supply materials however Outdure prefabricated the bowling green gutters for ease and efficiency on site.
The architects and quantity surveyors collaborated with the Outdure design team to maximise the usability of the space. QwickBuild was used as a ‘floating floor system’ to support and integrate tiles and turf using interlocking, hidden fastenings. Installation of lightweight planter boxes together with the low maintenance tiles and synthetic turf reduced ongoing maintenance costs.
