The Project:
Upgrade work to protect native trees on a public track in the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. The 2km track surface has been completely refurbished, including the construction of 275m boardwalk.
Project challenges:
The boardwalk design included ramps categorised as D1 access routes that required a high slip co-efficiency to meet council regulations.
The typically damp and shaded boardwalk required durable construction products, and in keeping with the natural environment, the recycled composite decking was chosen for its sustainability properties.
The solution:
Although CasaDeck has a P5 rating, the ramp areas were designed for extra slip resistance, solved by Outdure who custom designed an anti-slip strip which was laid between the boards. The strip innovation is now in production as an accessory in the QwickBuild system and has wider applications.
